A pair of Penguins (Print). This is a limited-run print of an 8cm pencil drawing that was created in 2025 by Jane Pitchford in Plettenberg Bay. The print comes in a 230x310mm white mount with a 140x140mm window. Each one is printed on archival art paper, is signed, numbered, and touched up with pencil.
The African Penguin, also known as the jackass penguin, is now classified as critically endangered by the IUCN, facing a high risk of extinction in the wild. These penguins swim past the coast of Plettenberg Bay on their way up to the colony near Port Elizabeth, sometimes tired and weak birds end up stranded on our beaches and stay for rehabilitation a while before being released. They got the nickname ‘Jackass Penguins’ because their loud, donkey-like calls resemble a braying donkey.
